What members are saying
-
“Sample review: Voltara beats a standby generator on cost and convenience. The rate matched my old provider, I get a full day of standby power, and I added the generator port for extra time. The installers were tidy and knew their code, and they even handled the HOA paperwork. Glad I switched.”
-
“Sample review: Nothing but great things to say about Voltara. The system works beautifully. We only found out the power had failed because the neighbors asked if we lost it too (we hadn’t). We added a plug for an external generator in case of a longer outage. On cost and benefit, it is hard to beat.”
-
-
“Sample review: Help yourself and your neighbors at the same time. I ended up with two batteries and about 57 kWh of storage, and I sleep better knowing my medical equipment will run all night through the next outage.”
-
-
“Sample review: Totally satisfied. Great rate for energy, and the battery kicks in seamlessly when the grid goes down. No generator noise!”
-
-
“Sample review: An early adopter and loving it. Peace of mind that an outage is less of a worry, and competitive electricity pricing is the icing on the cake.”
-
“Sample review: One year in and I love it. I was unsure at the start, but the whole experience has been excellent, and having peace of mind as a homeowner through storm season is worth it. I recommend it to everyone.”

We’ve got answers
What is Voltara? What is Voltara Vault?
Voltara is a fictional energy company building a grid for the future so homeowners can enjoy affordable, reliable power. We design, build, install, and operate home batteries that back up your home, save you money, and support the grid.
Voltara Vault is our next generation home battery, designed from the ground up to support the grid and now in production at Voltara Factory 1. It backs up your whole home, switches over seamlessly when the grid drops, and can withstand conditions from prairie summers to lakeshore winters.
How long will it back me up?
Voltara Vault holds 28.5 kWh of energy, which is ~2x the size of typical batteries. How long it lasts depends on how much power you use. A battery stores a fixed amount of energy, so running high-usage devices like A/C drains it faster, just like a bigger hose empties a bucket more quickly.
At reduced usage, a Voltara Vault can back you up for up to 24 hours. For context, most outages in the region are only a few hours long (sample statistic).
In the case of an extended outage, Vault has a built-in generator port that lets you recharge it from a standard portable generator, so you stay powered as long as you have fuel. The Voltara app shows a real-time estimate of your remaining backup time, at both your current usage and reduced usage.
What is the warranty?
You don’t take on the risk of owning or maintaining the hardware. Voltara retains ownership of the battery for the full term of your agreement, which means we warranty it and handle all service and maintenance, typically within days and at no cost to you. Voltara covers maintenance for manufacturing defects, installation defects, and other damage outside your control (sample terms).
Why is Voltara significantly less expensive than alternatives?
Voltara’s shared business model is what sets us apart. Instead of charging a high margin, Voltara earns most of its income from grid support — helping the power grid when it’s under strain.
That’s why whole-home backup costs a few hundred dollars upfront instead of tens of thousands for a generator, or the years-long payback of a solar-and-battery system.
We also build everything ourselves and pass those savings to you. We design the battery, build it at our own factory, install it with our own electricians, and keep watching over it after that.
What testing certifications does it have?
This is sample copy: list your real safety certifications here. Independent certification is the gold standard for electrical system safety in home appliances, including rigorous fire safety standards.
Vault uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, one of the safest battery types available. It’s more stable under high temperatures and far less likely to overheat than standard EV battery chemistries.
Beyond certifications, Vault went through extensive test programs (sample copy): submersion testing, high-pressure water testing, and internal flash-flood testing. It operates from -20 to 120 °F, built for hot prairie summers and cold lakeshore winters. Every installation is performed by certified, bonded, insured, and licensed electricians (sample license #000000).
When the grid goes down, your home doesn’t.
